I suspect the real barrier between a 17 hour and a 19-hour flight is the need to go from two to three crews no doubt they are testing to see if the first crew can rest enough to come back on as third crew. Won’t one pilot have a nap, the plane will be in autonomous mode, while the other pilot watches over, and every few hours they’ll very likely swap over. Dan, there would usually be two pairs of pilots onboard very long flights, one set will fly the aircraft while the other set sleeps, at the end of their shift, the pilots will swap over.
