They couldn’t afford to the Official any man can be a father but it takes someone special to be a daddy shirt. We could make lots of planes thanks to Beaverbrook but we had to have pilots to fly them. The second world war changed society. You could join the RAF but generally not as a pilot unless you’d been to public school. Similar to officers in the army. This didn’t apply to foreign pilots in the RAF, they just needed ability. There were a shortage of trained pilots but no shortage of applicants. Why this short but awesome video doesn’t have more likes and comments I’ll never understand.
