Weather like this was made for this beauty. It’s a staff favorite and I wasn’t made for winter shirt: from one of the oldest Quintas in the Douro Valley, it is a rich Tawny Port packed with date, orange and honey nut flavors. Don’t get me wrong, I love all the seasons. I am grateful to live in a part of the world that has such varied conditions and to witness how beautifully they contrast each other. It seems impossible for a photographer to become jaded here with the beckon of nature’s wild charm at our doorsteps. Winter is long, harsh, and unforgiving. I find joy and, admittedly, some serious pain in conquering a grueling upward jaunt with snowshoes upon my weary feet. Buffet lunch and a 3-course dinner on offer. Give Dad the gift of fine Pacific food.

Best I wasn’t made for winter shirt
I love to see soft powdered snow dancing seductively over the hardened crystals of it’s previously fallen brethren, I wasn’t made for winter shirt. Quiet and Peaceful. A time to reflect and make plans. You can feel it in the air. Warm mornings suddenly turn fresh and crisp again. The days shorten and time becomes essential. The bounty of our labors needs to be harvested and preserved. In the same breath, time seems to slow as shadows lengthen and the low light makes colored leaves glow. It is my favorite time to hike and photograph. I have more endurance without the summer heat weighing down my already sore and weary body. Washed out summer skies become a dramatic steely grey in stunning contrast to bright yellow foliage, taking my breath away and just begging that a shot is taken.
